[WLS] Quick Silent-mode Installation Guide

You need to install Oracle WebLogic 10.3.6 but you don't have GUI access.

Do a silent install.

1. Create a silent.xml with a similar content:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
       <data-value name="BEAHOME" value="/u01/app/oracle/Middleware" />
       <data-value name="WLS_INSTALL_DIR" value="/u01/app/oracle/Middleware/wlserver_10.3" />
       <data-value name="COMPONENT_PATHS"
        value="WebLogic Server/Core Application Server|WebLogic Server
/Administration Console|WebLogic Server/Configuration Wizard and Upgrade
Framework|WebLogic Server/Web 2.0 HTTP Pub-Sub Server|WebLogic Server/WebLogic
JDBC Drivers|WebLogic Server/Third Party JDBC Drivers|WebLogic Server
/WebLogic Server Clients|WebLogic Server/WebLogic Web Server Plugins
|WebLogic Server/UDDI and Xquery Support|WebLogic Server/Server Examples|Oracle Coherence/Coherence Product Files" />
       <data-value name="INSTALL_NODE_MANAGER_SERVICE" value="yes" />
       <data-value name="NODEMGR_PORT" value="5556" />
       <data-value name="INSTALL_SHORTCUT_IN_ALL_USERS_FOLDER" value="yes"/>
2. Execute the following command:
java -jar wls1036_generic.jar -mode=silent -silent_xml=./silent.xml
3. Wait until it finish and verify the MW_HOME.

If you want to upgrade instead of install then the silent.xml has to be like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?>
<data-value name="BEAHOME" value="/u01/app/oracle/Middleware" />

[Cloud Control 12c] Discovery EBS R12 fails with java.lang.NullPointerException

Trying to discover an EBS System with Cloud Control, discovery ends on error:

Caused By: oracle.apps.fnd.oam.em.sdk.targetData.discovery.AppsDiscoveryException: Error while attempting to discover EBS on : 0000( oracle_database ) using schema: em_monitor
Caused By: java.lang.NullPointerException

This error appears in the Discovery Job Run page. (Enterprise > Job Activiy > Job Run DISCOVERY <instance> [Date])

At first look, it seems like is a missing plug-in, so, according to "Troubleshooting Oracle E-Business Plug-in [ID 1537431.1]", Step 2, yo need to check if you have all the necessary plug-in installed on the agent, that EBS System requires to work.

[RDBMS] How To Change Oracle Installation Owner

Applies to:
          Oracle Database 10g
          Oracle Database 11g
          Oracle Enterprise Manager 11gR1 and Cloud Control 12c

OS: Linux x86, Linux x86_64, Solaris (Tested). (It should work on all UNIX based systems)

Note: Before to proceed you need to stop all the services running on the Oracle Home (databases, listeners, oms, agent)

1. If you don't have the user that will be the new owner of the ORACLE_HOME created, create one. I'll use oraoem.

2. With all the services stopped, change the ORACLE_HOME's owner:

         chown -R oraoem $ORACLE_HOME/
